Scoring in CUBEWORD :
For any new word formed in one turn, the player scores :
― for the first to the fifth letter, one point per letter;
― for the sixth and seventh letters, two points per letter;
― for the eighth and subsequent letters, three points per letter.
Blanks rate as zero and do not count towards the score for the turn.
A word which has been created but subsequently dismantles may be restored by any player; but such restored words do not score unless two clear turns have been played since they were first created.
Words created by changing to an alternative spelling (e.g. The suffixes ―ise and ―ize) are treated as restored words, not new words. Players may themselves decide whether American English spellings are to be permitted as alternatives to one another.
The Start is when the first player sites up to five cubes anywhere on the playing surface.
The Finish is a target decided by the players themselves before play begins. It may be:
― the highest score within a time limit;
― the first player to reach a given score;
― the first player to establish a lead of a given number of points; or
― any other agreed target.
